Advent I, Year A (27 Nov 2016)

Advent is a time of waiting, a time of expectation.

1. We are in wait when we are lacking something. What are we waiting for? What do we lack? What do we think of when we feel this lack? What is it that we are lacking? What do we need? What is missing? This question would be enough to start the time of Advent.

2. What we really need is God. Only God, infinite, can fulfil our infinite desire. Nothing else suffices. What we really lack is a strong and intentional connection with God. But we all too often think of anything else but God.

3. Actually God is always trying to enter into our life again, but we are paying attention in another direction. As Ibsen says in Peer Gynt: "Dear sun, who gifted your radiance to a locked empty room because he who owned it was always away."

Give time to pray and read and speak about God. He will enter and, if you are there, where you deep desire is, you will meet again.

This will be Christmas.
